So here’s the story behind the Hex King’s emblem, the Chinese character for “car” (see Moves #26, #34, and #41): It’s a pictogram that originally represented “chariot” (top view, wheels at top and bottom, axle running through), but in the Roadverse it’s come to be associated with “bad demonic motherfucker” (see Move #26, Comment #11), as well as “bad demonic motherfucker’s vassal undead biker gang.”

    And, also, in Chinese chess, the Chariot is the equivalent of the Rook.

  2. Hurray “car” callbacks! Is the diving-suit biker an ethereal form in a containment suit, like Wildfire or Dr. Krauss?

  3. Whoa, I hadn’t thought of that. The diving suit is probably just protecting that particular ghoul’s advanced state of decay from the relentless heat of however many suns are up… and probably holding it together somehow, too.
